Cove is cherry country. Over 400 acres of sweet cherry orchards dot the landscape, mostly on the higher terrain around town, making the Grande Ronde Valley one of only three commercial cherry growing areas in Oregon. The harvest season typically runs from early July to mid August. Smaller orchards of apricots, peaches, and other fruits can also be found locally; several are set up as U-pick businesses. Cove celebrates the beauty and bounty of its fruit production with the annual Arts Festival and Cherry Fair in August.
